Shredder Chess App Reviews

I have tried many other apps before wanting to shell out the 8 bucks, however this is well worth it! Actually makes a chess app enjoyable rather than confusing and frustrating!

A little pricy but worth it, the puzzles are ver good to learn chess. The interface and controls are simply perfect, I cant think of one thing I would like to add or change. Dont even think about playing this monster at the highest difficulty levels

Im new to Chess and this app helped teach the game and provides a great AI with all kinds of difficulty levels. Im looking forward to getting to know the game more and improving.

I am 2100 USCF and this app consistently crushes me on its high levels. For a portable chess game, this is simply great. I definitely got my moneys worth and more.

Great improvements!!! Now I will test this new Shredder against Hiarcs with an Elo 2800 and Stockfish with an Elo 2500. Right now Shredder has an Elo 2600!!! I am very thankful I have this on my iPhone! This was my old review: Shredder is one of the best when playing on the computer but with my iPodtouch it is not commendable. With an Elo rating of 2400 as it claim to be at masters strength, it cannot even beat a free chess engine on my computer with an Elo of 2300. Please make it more stronger, at least 2700 Elo strength!! It can beat any chess app in the Apple platform except Glaurung and Chess Genius! All other features are outstanding except the arrow meter which somewhat annoyed me. If only we can hide those buttons like the interface of Chess Genius to display chess openings and analysis would make it the best!! The chess puzzles included is great too! The Elo rating tool is another good feature for it will measure your improvement. But what disappoint me is that there is no replay button. You will not be able to save games and replay it. You cannot import pgn files eventhough pgn is supported. It is only usable when exporting your games. Please make some update!! I made this review and comment on the original version. And since they made some changes I feel like oblige to change the rating of  to . Now I can replay and load saved games. Thanks for the update! Please make the engine stronger at least 2500 Elo rating.

Easily one of the best along side Fritz. I own Fritz 12 and looking forward getting Shredder 12 and Houdini

This application runs well and is updated regularly. What I would like (more than voice over) is the ability to play blindfold games against shredder.

I had some problems lately with the app crashing on me. After notifying the developers, who responded personally and promptly, I am pleased to report that the app is up and running glitch free. Aside from Shredder being one of the best (if not the best) chess app, what separates them from the rest is their exceptional customer service. Keep up the great work!!!

This is a great app. The board and pieces are easy on the eyes, it can automatically adjust its playing strength to match your own, and it can export the PGN of games that you have played. I use it to play chess against the Shredder engine, to record games that I play against real people, and to do Michael de la Mazas Chess Vision exercises and "Seven Circles" training.

Its a great app and does exactly what it says, but there are some features that it doesnt have and others do. Itd be great if we could import pgn files into the app. Also, itd be amazing if we could enter subvariations which would could also be saved in the pgn files of the game. . And if we could enter annotations this app would just be perfect!

A fantastic chess experience. Instructional and challenging, adjusting to the skill set of the user. It has been a great tool for me to get back into chess.

Not only is the software top notch but the developer happily answers my emails and assisted me getting shredder up and running on my Linux laptop plus iPhone and iMac. Without out a doubt I am better chess player because of shredder, its intuitive, slick interface and challenging engine is perfectly suited to the beginner right on up to expert player. Buy it, its no more than the price of a cup of coffee and a sandwich. Well worth it

I dld it and its in the iPhone format! I Have the iPad app and its great! But dont bother the this promotion if downloading for your iPad.

Fine program - doesnt just adjust its strength to yours, it plays sensibly at each level. It avoids the freakish openings backed by overly sharp tactics that some programs use.

im not a very good chess player. but my friend can won the game(in the hardest mode and different play style) every time. he even moves faster than the program. he didnt use undo. i wish Shredder is gonna update the program.

This is a great program! The auto strength function ensures a good game at your level, and Shredder also plays in different styles. Its great to analyse ur games and see what u may have missed. Worth every cent. Has made me a better playerThanks

Great application. Need screen resolution enhancements for iPhone 6/6 plus

This app is constantly crashing, it wont open properly, every time I attemp to open it crashes. This app needs an urgent update
