one of the best Ive seen love it. buy it

I played chess quite a bit back in high school a few decades ago and I wanted to get back into playing. After trying several chess apps I find that Shredder is my favorite. Not only does it feel fun, I love how it calculates my rating after every game quantifying my progress. After a few days with the lite app I upgraded to the full version.

This is the best chess app that I have tried.

1. Liked the 100 problems on the free app so much that I took a crowbar to my wallet and shelled out the $7.99 for the additional 900 problems. Was looking for a cheaper app with more problems. There used to be an app with 1200 problems but I could no longer find it. These problems are just right for a 1900 rated player like me but might be too difficult for weaker players. There needs to be different levels of problems. BTW, because the free app selects random order for the problems, there were 28 repeats out of a 100. 2. I think that the user interface could be simpler. The "+" symbol does not seem intuitive. Took me awhile to find the analysis mode. Need a 1 step method of going from problem to analysis mode. Would like to be able to cut and paste games. 3. Didnt like the default colors, but fortunately you can change them. Prefer the graphics and user interface on tChess. 4. Like the strong engine for analysis. Havent done any playing yet. 5. Mel1995 seems to be describing a different app. I have seen none of these problems.

It was a great game but the lack of updates have me thinking its no longer supported. You cannot listen to music while playing which is frustrating.

To shredder team I was wondering if you and your team can some how create alongside with the new update (iOS 8) a collective score of how many points (pieces) both players and Shredder have during gameplay.

Buyers should be aware that as of 9/28/2014 Shredder does not perform reliably under ios8. It freezes frequently.

Great app. I love the tactics problems and Shredders auto adjust to the humans playing strength. I only wish they would change the notation to simple algebraic, meaning Qd1 instead of Qa5-d1. A minor issue though.

Needs an update bad, keeps crashing and if you leave the program it mysteriously goes back several moves. Was great before.

Needs fixing soon please.

If the developers update for the 6 plus would be a 5-star app

Still does not play right, even after update

It is great to see that the Shredder development team has continued to support this application. Such continued efforts are the hallmark of quality on iOS, and serve as the gold standard to all prospective developers. Thanks for a great app.

Fonts are blurry and UI is fuzzy please fix.

It was good until I opened it and it crashed. 5 stars when it is fixed.

Simply the best $10 Ive ever spent on chess, and Ive spent a lot of $$ on chess computers, programs, books etc. Except latest release is just shutting down immediately on my 4s iPhone. When this is fixed Ill glow again about this program. Very ver strong player when it works.

Update: I no longer have access to opening books. When I try to open and view the possible selections for openings, I get a blank page with lines. Openings are one of the biggest reasons why I loved this app and now its gone. Please fix this ASAP and the app will be perfect again like it once was.

I absolutely loved this app... Until latest update continually makes my elo "4503" and therefore makes Shredder 2600. Needless to say Im not a grand master and I cant use this app anymore without getting crushed. Please fix it and I will update my review.

Could be 5 stars if all iOS 8.x.x would be solved.

Ive been using shredder for years on my computer and love it. Im enjoying it very much on my iPhone 6Plus as well! Thumbs way up!
